S&P 500 Enters Blockchain World with Centrifuge Collaboration
The S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI) has partnered with blockchain infrastructure platform Centrifuge to tokenize the S&P 500 Index, marking a historic leap for traditional finance into decentralized ecosystems. The collaboration, announced at the Centrifuge RWA Summit in Cannes, introduces the first tokenized S&P 500 Index fund—enabling programmable index-tracking via smart contracts powered by official S&P DJI data.
Anemoy Capital, a Web3-native asset manager, secured the inaugural license to develop the Janus Henderson Anemoy S&P 500 Index Fund. Nick Cherney of Janus Henderson noted strong demand for prior tokenized funds on Centrifuge, signaling institutional appetite for blockchain-based index products. The MOVE unlocks DeFi's transparency and flexibility for licensed asset managers while maintaining regulatory compliance.
